This study is designed to explore in much greater detail the early life development, environmental influences (including antenatally), socioeconomic circumstances and diversity of the Māori participants and to explore how the parental and whanau affiliations, cultural identity, service accessibility (including health care and social support) and contact with cultural institutions (such as marae) influence the growth and health trajectories of these tamariki in the first 9 months.
