Exposure to alcohol during pregnancy is one of the prenatal risk factors that can negatively influence child development.

Exposure to alcohol during pregnancy is one of the prenatal risk factors that can negatively influence child development. This study will estimate the prevalence of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) as defined by the modified Canadian FASD diagnostic guidelines where the simultaneous presentation of the three characteristic facial features: short palpebral fissures, indistinct philtrum and thin upper lip will be used to identify children with FASD. The digital photographs will be taken of the Growing Up children during the face-to-face interview and analysed by an expert using the FAS Facial Photographic Analysis software.
